Okay, this is going to be long-winded AF, but I am just trying to save you the time going from store to store that I wasted before deciding on this case… a 2 minute read, to save you hours or days (including return shipping) of lost time.With that said…First, I am actually a Samsung/android guy… but I have had many cases on many different phones over time. I usually buy the defender series of otterbox because I don't care if my phone is bulky I just want it protected.And Lately, I have found very good knock offs at literally 1/3 the price on the bay and they were working perfectly for me. With that said, I was assuming I could find something similar (in price range and protection)for my wife’s iPhone.The thing is, I already have a large phone, an S8 Active (this pretty much is in a case as the phone sits natively) and adding a defender case to this makes an incredibly thick phone.My wife, who is a diehard apple user across the board, is also completely opposed to me on this, as she thinks my phone (that is literally three times as thick her iPhone) is ridiculous. She wanted to be able to slide it into her pocket or handbag with ease and not have some bulky behemoth to carry around.So, this led me to a couple things I was looking for combined with what my wife wanted.My wifes expectations:Slim, not overly bulky.Pretty, with a cute colorMy (more reasonable) requirementsButtons all worked as they shouldVolume both in and out worked as it should without the caseTouch pad for finger scanner workedWater-proof, or at least… “my-kid -threw-it-in-the-bath-and-I-pulled-it-out-real-quick” resistant.Actually prevents damage when dropped… and LastlyAffordable, or at least priced reasonably.Being that like I said, I have had literally probably 30 different phone cases, and I know the general price of them starts (for a good quality case) around 50$ and after about a year or so a knock off comes out that is pretty much just as good (or at least close to as good) quality for around 20$. And this is for a good case, there are tons significantly cheaper than this. Just so were clear, these cases, all cases, are all ABS plastic or molded plastic, these literally cost cents (as in like 20-60 cents to make) Plenty of cases here on amazon being sold for 4 dollars or so and those sellers are still making money.The issue is, I focused on the above pricing point so much, I wasted time… and thus actually wasted money.I saw this case, I saw the price and I immediately started looking elsewhere.I knew there had to be something as good or better at a better price.So shopped around. Went to the mall, both At&t, the apple store itself, T-mobile and Verizon.None of them had waterproof cases besides Lifeproof.Well then, I though to myself, I will just get on line and find a knock off version for 20$ or so.Let me just confirm, the only knock off versions that are available (and yes some as low as 20$) have almost all 3 main issues.1: Buttons don’t work right, including the fingerprint home button/2: The volume both in and out is muffled.3: And the front screen protector doesn’t adhere to the screen and its constantly like pushing on a bubbled surface.Then I went back to this phone case again and looked at the reviews. It was rated 3 stars (which is usually pretty bad all things considered) I thought “I’m not paying 50 dollars for 50 cents worth of plastic that people are rating badly…I skipped it again and went back to looking…Nothing, I mean nothing I could find that was waterproof and slim fitting and offered all around protection besides this dang lifeproof case. And the generic one was unusable because of those three aforementioned issues.Okay back to the Lifeproof case, I searched to find the best price and found one that was 30 rather then 50, went to order it and realized it was not the FRE series, meaning it was not wetproof and did not offer full protection. Kept looking and found one for 45 but it was green and grey, and my wife would murder me if I cheeped out over 4 dollars to get her some ugly phone cover.So I did it, I bought her a 50 dollar phone cover… I just reconfirmed to myself that everything with apple seems to be expensive, her watch was twice as much, her laptop was twice as much, her tv, her tablet, her phone, her desktop, her earphones… her apple everything was twice as much… so of course the case would be twice as much… I began muttering against apple again as I do it seems at least a couple times a year… yes, sorry apple guys and girls… I’m an apple hater, forgive me. I just knew this case would probably come in and in fact be a 3 star piece of plastic I just wasted 50 bucks on.Then the next day the case came in. I opened it up muttering to myself… I pulled it out grabbed my wife’s iPhone 8 plus and pulled off the packaging. I pressed it into the cover and to my astonishment, it fit like a glove. I mean it squeezed in perfectly. I snapped the case together and it fit so tight and slim fitting it could not have been made better.I went through my requirement checks.For sure this was slim fitting, this is tight tight housing. CheckButtons all worked perfect, checkThen I called my cell, volume was crystal clear in and out, check.Touch pad for you thumb is actually made out of a special thinner plastic specifically to form tight to the sensor and allow seamless readings. This was perfect, checkWaterproof, well I am not testing the 30 minute test but at least dabbed in water this thing did not leak, so check.Actually, prevents damage, well I didn’t deliberately drop it, but it has now been dropped a few times and I can confirm, this is a big check.And lastly priced affordably, or at least reasonably. Well I would have said no to this, if I had not wasted all my time with other cases and trying to find something… now with what I know, this is in fact a check. This is the best case available that I could find for the price.May it wear down overtime? Sure… Its made of plastic. Will it prevent my wife’s phone form being damaged and look good while doing it? Double check.I am not saying this is the best case ever made, I am saying at the current time for the I Phone 8 Plus, this is the best case you can get… whatever your nitpicks are… this is still the best.I hope this helped you out, and honestly if you find a better case for the iPhone at a better price I would like to know myself please feel free to comment it!
