My Nexus 5 slipped out of my front pants pocket while sitting at my desk chair. It dropped less than 2 feet to the floor. All the same, the Gorilla Glass shattered from the top right corner down to the lower left corner (so much for the strength of "Gorilla" Glass). There are 6 cracks running the length of the glass. However, the phone works perfectly.I'd been quoted $140 to have the phone repaired locally. I've read that LG charges about the same. While considering my options (I love the Nexus 5) I saw CitiGeeks tempered glass cover and thought it might keep the cracks from expanding any further. I ordered it and it has been working perfectly at that task for over a week now. The phone still works perfectly and the cracks have not expanded. In fact, when looking directly at the screen, it is hard to see the cracks at all. I need to change the viewing angle to make the cracks apparent. So, although I may bite the bullet in the future and send the phone to LG, right now I'm going to stay with the current CitiGeeks screen keeping my phone working as is. Also, there may well be a Nexus 5 (2nd Generation) this autumn so I'm going to stay where I am for a while. I just wish that I'd had the CitiGeeks screen before the phone dropped and maybe the screen would have been protected.By the way, when installing, I was so focused on lining up the top end of the screen with the holes there that I didn't pay enough attention to the bottom end which was slightly off. It was no big deal but I recommend keeping your eyes focused on both ends. Also, the replacement kit was excellent. Be sure to watch the suggested video before getting started.
